Beginners' Course

Eclipse Archery runs Beginners Courses throughout the year, consisting of a minimum of eight hours of instruction, practical participation and assessment.


These courses are normally held on our outdoor range, in a series of sessions arranged in advance, subject to the applicants’ convenience and availability of coaching staff.


The course covers:-

  • Equipment and how to use it safely.
  • Basic techniques of shooting.
  • How to shoot all types of bow (Recurve, Long Bow and Compound).
  • The various forms of archery.
  • Rounds and Scoring.
  • Warm up exercises and why they are necessary.
  • Archery Etiquette.

Successful candidates will receive a certificate which will permit them to join any G.N.A.S (Archery GB) affiliated archery club.

Our next course (details below) runs over six consecutive Thursday evenings, and will be held on our outdoor range.

Course Dress:                            Enclosed footwear
                                                   Long sleeved, close-fitting top
                                                   No loose clothing
                                                   Long hair tied back
                                                   No dangly jewellery/earrings
Please note that the range is not the warmest of places during the                                     winter months & candidates should dress accordingly.

Course Equipment:                     All necessary archery equipment is provided
                                                    A notebook and pen should be brought to each session

Course Fee:                                £65.00 - Payable in advance.
